Reasons for discoloration of teeth

Some of the unavoidable habits such as drinks containing caffeine like coca cola, coffee, etc damages if consumed daily as a habit for years. It is advisable to decrease this habit. Drinkables such as red wine also stain the teeth.

Age also leads to discoloration of the teeth because of demineralization and decalcification of the outer layer of the tooth known as enamel which then exposes the inner layer called as dentine which is yellow in color.

Most of the people are not happy with there color and shade of there teeth color and require help of a dentist to solve this problem. The most used methods for this are Bonding, Veneers and Caps or Crowns and Tooth Whitening

The technique of dental bonding uses a light resin which is applied to form a thin coat of the resin to cover up the stain. Tooth whitening is more complex. A bleaching agent is used which helps in whitening process of the teeth. Three applications are done and the patient can see the difference in 3 to 4 weeks.

Another method is application of veneers which are porcelain coatings usually a millimeter thick and is applied on the tooth by the dentists in Leeds. These are resistant to the stains. These are less convenient to the patient. They may cost $900 per tooth.
